Pilgrims trust the President will receive them

Peregrinos confían Presidente los recibirá

After arriving at National Palace last Friday to demand the return of 18 thousand land tasks, after five days of viacrucis from Seibo, the pilgrims decided to return to their community and wait for the president Luis Abinader receive them and attend to your demand at once.

The priest Miguel Angel Gullonwho accompanies the peasants from San Francisco Vicentillo, La Culebra community, reported that the board of the Mamá Tingó Peasant Association decided not to enter the National Palace if the president was not there, since he is the only one who can solve the problem.

“It is that there have already been many meetings with officials without the land being returned to the true owners, the farmers who rely on decree 486 of 1975, as well as on the settlement of the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) 2016″, underlines the priest of the Dominican congregation.

He maintained that they returned to Seibo empty-handed, but trusting President Abinader, because many of the pilgrims could not stand the fatigue, blisters and wounds on their feet.

From the National Palace the peasants went to the house of the Dominican Sisters of the Rosarya congregation that welcomed them in 2019 for more than a month and now they made the Stations of the Cross from El Seibo for five days.

From that place they decided to return to their community to gain strength and continue the fight until they recovered the land.
