The Government of Pichincha assured that it will be charged once a year; and the maximum value for a private vehicle will be $18; and $20.5 for public transportation.
As a result of the note published by Diario LA HORA, during this January 24, 2022, with respect to new tax which will be charged together with the vehicle registrationthe Prefecture of Pichincha issued a statement clarifying the amounts that citizens will pay.
According to that statement, the payment will be once a year, and based on the annual registration fee of the National Transit Agency (ANT).
In the case of Private vehiclesthe special contribution for road improvements it will be $18; while for cars that provide public transportation, the amount will be $20.5.
For its part, the cost for motorcycle owners will reach $9.30.
The Prefecture confirmed that the Ordinance for the “Creation of the Special Fund for the Improvement and Road Maintenance of the Province of Pichincha with Citizen Contribution” was approved on October 7, 2021 with the majority vote of the councilors.
Likewise, it was ratified that all the money collected will go exclusively to the pathways of the 53 rural parishes that Pichincha has.
The creation of this type of contributions or taxes is authorized in the Organic Code of Territorial Organization, Autonomy and Decentralization (Cootad), which has been in force since mid-2010.
