Some 543 people were apprehended over the weekend through ‘Operation Genesis 2022’

A total of 1,284 drug packages were seized and 543 people were apprehended during “Operation Genesis 2022” this weekend.

During these operations, 111 raids were carried out, in which 231 people were arrested for trades, 229 for administrative offenses, 34 for flagrancy and 44 for micro-trafficking.

In “Operation Genesis”, which took place in Panama, Panama Oeste, Colón, Chiriquí, Darién, Los Santos, the seizure of 24 firearms was achieved, in Colón and Arraiján, in addition to 265 ammunition, B/.812.00, and 9 vehicles were recovered.

Likewise, as part of this operation, the units of the National Directorate of Traffic Operations placed a total of 5,329 fines for traffic violations.

The offenses with the highest incidence are speeding, inadequate lights, proven drunkenness, expired licenses, and talking on a cell phone while driving.

In addition, some 51 foreign citizens who did not meet the immigration requirements were placed under the orders of the corresponding authorities.
