The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) issued a yellow alert for strong storms in the north and east of the country that is in force from 7:30 a.m. In areas with storms, “intense rains in short periods, occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind are expected,” the institute warned.
The alert will be updated at 11:30 a.m. The territory under alert was reduced compared to the alert issued in the early hours of the morning and now there are four departments affected.

Artigas: Bella Unión, Bernabé Rivera, Cainsa, Colonia Palma, Coronado, Franquia, Javier de Viana, Mones Quintela, Portones de Hierro and Campodónico, Santa Rosa del Cuareim, Tomás Gomensoro and Topador.
Long Hill: Lake Merin.
Rock: Chives.
Thirty-three: Arroz Zapata, Arrozal Treinta y Tres and General Enrique Martínez.
