With the objective of stimulating the activities of the so-called “digital nomads” in Brazil, the National Immigration Council, of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, regulated the granting of temporary visas and residence permits to immigrants who, without employment in the country and use of information technologies, can perform work for foreign employers.
The measure, published this Monday (24) in the Official Diary of the Union, establishes an initial period of one year of residence, which may be renewed for an equal period.
For the national secretary of Justice and president of the collegiate, José Vicente Santini, the regulation meets the global trend and even contributes to the tourism sector. “The remuneration of digital nomads is from external sources, and the resources brought by these immigrants move the national economy. This is an important step for Brazil to promote one of the most modern models of work,” he said.
