Santo Domingo – The President Luis Abinader announced, from the populous La Ciénaga sector in the National District, that these Christmasthrough the Economic Kitchens, the government will deliver 6 million Christmas food rations, with an investment of more than 2,400 million pesos.
The announcement was made by the president, together with the first lady, Raquel Arbaje, at a lunch with community leaders from La Ciénaga and Los Guandules in which he began «Christmas of Change 2022» for the National District, the Santo Domingo province and the East and South regions.
He explained that abundant rations will be delivered that will contain roast pork, baked chicken, teleras, sheet cakes, fruits and Christmas sweets, among other foods that have great meaning for Dominicans at the time of festivities.
The Head of State announced that in addition to Christmas rations, ordinary production will be increased to 150,000 daily rations to reach more diners and 300 mobile kitchen points will be placed throughout the month of December, to provide services in localities where there are no dining rooms yet. .
In addition, 300,000 raw rations made up of the supply of regular consumption and Christmas products from Dominican homes will be delivered.
I emphasize that this year, and by far, has been unprecedented in the services offered by the State Economic Kitchens from January to October of this year.
“Not 10 percent or 20 percent, it is that we have multiplied it several times and almost 20 million rations have been produced with an economic investment of RD$ 1,134 million and that is why the data indicates that the social spending of the The Dominican government increased its gross domestic product by more than 2 percent, that is, this government is investing much more in social plans so that they reach the Dominicans who need it most,” the ruler emphasized.
He insisted that his government will continue to focus on providing assistance to those most in need so that they can count on the friendly and supportive hand of the institutions that, like the economic soup kitchens, make up the cabinet of social policies.
He recalled that the Christmas holidays are about sharing with loved ones and for those reasons he called on Dominicans to laugh, be kind, take care of themselves, get the best out of them and enjoy because the authorities are focused on improving the quality of life of those most in need.
“Enjoy these holidays. Some parties that are ours and that no one can take away from us. We, your government, as you can see, will be by your side. Sharing and laughing and helping,” President Abinader emphasized.
He expressed that for this reason international organizations highlight as a feat the fact that while in other countries poverty increased by 7 or 8 percent, in the Dominican Republic, on the contrary, it decreased by 2 percent.
