Nine members of groups dedicated to extortion were detained in Zulia and Táchira by members of the Bolivarian National Guard.
Two of those captured are identified as Ángel González Orozco and Manuel Antonio Bermúdez, members of the El Mocho criminal group, who engaged in robbery, theft, kidnapping and extortion.
These two subjects were detained in the Santa Rosa de Aguas sector, Maracaibo municipality, Zulia state, where they seized a tear gas device and twelve 9 mm caliber cartridges.
In the El Guayaba sector, Jesús Enrique Lossada municipality, Zulia state, the military seized a 9 mm caliber Glock pistol, a pistol magazine, five 9 mm cartridges and a Bera motorcycle, without a license plate.
The seized material was in the hands of two members of the El Virolo criminal organization: Yosmar Carlos Nava Suárez and Delberto Segundo Carrizo Boscán.
Also in Zulia, but at the Puente sobre El Lago checkpoint, Maracaibo, they seized twenty 9 mm caliber cartridges, which were being transported by Damacio Urdaneta.
This person was verified in the Integrated Police Information System (Siipol) and turned out to be requested by the Municipal Delegation of Cicpc El Moján (Zulia) since December 12, 1995 for the crime of intentional homicide.
In this procedure, they also arrested Raúl Enrique Goliat Briceño, requested by the Second Court of Criminal Control of the state of Mérida, since 10-23-2022, for the crimes of aggravated robbery and association to commit a crime.
Both subjects were traveling as passengers and are members of the Los Balas criminal group, according to the report.
And in the Los Asajaritos sector, Maracaibo, they captured Juan Andrés Chacín Chacín, an active member of the criminal organization JL, who was dedicated to making extortion calls to merchants in Zulia state, in order to obtain money.
Another procedure with detainees was carried out by agents of the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (cones), in the Las Minas sector, Lobatera municipality, Táchira state, where they seized a panela of marijuana, a 9 mm Browning pistol, a 7.65 mm caliber Pietro Beretta pistol, two pistol magazines, thirteen 9 mm caliber cartridges, twelve cartridges 7.65 mm caliber, two telephone sets, a radio transmitter and an Empire Owen motorcycle, license plate AB7D09J.
Two members of the Los Colaboradores group, identified as Emmanuel José Ortiz Pérez and Marcos Jonathan Canelones Ovalles, were detained in the operation.
The detainees will be charged with illicit drug trafficking, illicit possession of a firearm and criminal association, among other crimes.
