After the heat wave, temperatures drop but the rains continue

cromo

After the heat wave that Uruguay experienced until this Sunday, the drop in temperatures will begin to gain ground across the country during the next week, according to different forecasts.

The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) points out that the warm, humid and unstable air mass, which has lasted for several weeks, will persist until next Wednesday, when temperatures will begin to drop. This change will take place from the arrival of a cold front -scheduled for Wednesday- that will favor the change of air mass, but it will be noticed from Monday, according to the report.

On Monday 24 the temperature will drop slightly in the center and west of the country. The north will remain with high temperatures, but lower than those recorded in recent days. The rains and storms (some strong) will continue with partial improvements,” he says.

Weather conditions will be subject to the appearance of these cold air masses, which will enter the southern region of Brazil and then Uruguay, according to Metsul estimates. Although they will not have the same incidence as in winter, it is expected that they will cause a “notable drop in temperatures”.

“Between Thursday and Friday, the coldest air takes over the south of the country (through Brazil) with pleasant marks and the historic and powerful heat wave (previously announced) will end,” he indicates.

The passage of a cold front on Wednesday 26 with the entry of a high pressure system (post-front) will favor the change of air mass, lowering the temperature throughout the country and starting to improve the weather conditions,” adds Metsul.

The report adds that the phenomenon will not necessarily translate into “cold” but will bring pleasant and below-average temperatures for a few days: “Most cities have average highs around 30ºC and 31ºC in January, so as the highs at the end of the week will be between 26ºC and 29ºC in many municipalities, the temperature will be below historical standards.”

According to the agency’s projections, “there is a heat bubble installed over the central part of the continent, which anticipates many days in a row of heat”, which is still in force.
