An intercity bus, which tried to cross a river in La Rioja, was swept away by the rising water and overturned without any fatalities or injuries being reported among the passengers, while the driver had to be hospitalized due to the blows.

The incident occurred on Saturday night when a bus from the Facundo company tried to cross the La Punta river along National Route 150 at kilometer 60 and was swept away by the strong flow of water, according to police officers from the police station. from the town of Patquía.

Total, 20 passengers were traveling in the transport unit and, according to the occupants, they managed to get out by their own means.

Staff from the agency and volunteer firefighters attended the scene, and They observed that approximately 100 meters away there was a large vehicle destroyed and without occupants.

Only the driver and the passenger were inside the bus, who stated that, when trying to cross the river, they lost control and left the asphalt strip until they fell into the riverbed.

The driver of the interurban vehicle, Carlos Vega (41) was taken to a hospital for having received severe blows to different parts of the body, while his companion, Juan Sánchez (50) was unharmed, reported the news site El Independiente de La Rioja.
