Government does not give in to pressure from truckers and announces that it will not withdraw complaints over the Security Law to stop mobilizations

The Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, assured that the Government of the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, will not accept the petition made by the mobilized truckers to withdraw the complaints presented by the Executive by Law of Internal Security of the State against the carriers that they block routes and affect the free movement of the population to put an end to the strike.

After a meeting with the representatives of the Federation of Transportistas Fuerza del Norte and Centro Sur, Monsalve stated that “we had a conversation where we made significant progress on issues of public security” and that “the will of the Government to dialogue is without conditions”. .

Although he declared that he had achieved a “significant rapprochement”, he acknowledged that “there is a condition and the Government will not accept conditions, in terms of preventing the Government from legitimately using all the powers that the rule of law gives it to guarantee free transit “.

Along these lines, Monsalve pointed out that the Executive still maintains “the desire for dialogue, we have made a very important effort”, but he announced that they have given clear instructions to police personnel to proceed with the clearance of the routes blocked by the truckers.

“We are going to have a meeting with the Carabineros and the PDI. As you already know, there is a formal instruction to clear the routes, that is where the obligation to maintain public order operates. The precise instruction is not to allow this situation and clear it. If there is a disturbance, there is an order to arrest people,” he said.

Likewise, it concluded that “the strike today has no basis to justify it, behind the strike there have been proposals that the Government has responded to, both in public safety and in terms of fuel increases, where we all already know the committed measures.”
