This Friday, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and the Prime Minister of Belize, John Briceño, signed a binational cooperation agreement at the Miraflores Palace with the aim of deepening the ties of friendship between both nations.
From the Sol del Perú Room, the Head of State pointed out that common issues of cooperation and future plans were reviewed during the meeting.
Maduro reported that Venezuela and Belize strengthen alliances in the oil area. “We have reached a good agreement for our countries and our peoples. Petrocaribe is being reborn and will be reborn with great force,” he stressed.
Likewise, the Dignitary said that other issues discussed at the meeting have to do with the reinvigoration of Petrocaribe and analysis of the effects of the climate crisis in the region.
In this sense, President Maduro stressed that Petrocaribe is resuming its path with a view to “returning with its drive and strength” to promote regional socioeconomic development mechanisms in accordance with its founding principles.
The national President reiterated his willingness to build relations based on cooperation, solidarity and complementarity.
Similarly, he revalidated Venezuela’s absolute support for Belize to address the situation generated by the passage of Hurricane Lisa.
“We have offered our support in these hurricane conditions and I hope that within the framework of the Petrocasa agreements we can also advance in immediate support,” he said.
“Belize can count on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela always within the framework of new values for a new humanity (…) Feel Venezuela as your Homeland Prime Minister John Briceño. This Homeland that saw the birth of the Liberators of America, Simón Bolívar, Hugo Chávez, is a Homeland of heroic people. Always welcome,” said Maduro.
For his part, the Prime Minister of Belize, John Briceño, highlighted the role of Venezuela for the transformation of the Caribbean and the region.
“Venezuela continues to play a very important role in America and in the Caribbean,” Briceño said.
Briceño pointed out that despite the difficulties that Venezuela had – product of the blockade promoted by the United States (USA) -; the National Government was always willing to offer its support to the small countries of the Caribbean.
“In recent years, you as president, with the little you had at that time, as a result of the embargo, always looked for a way to work for the region,” he stressed.
In this sense, he recalled that, with the founding of PetroCaribe – promoted by Commander Hugo Chávez -, Venezuela helped Belize to promote social programs for the benefit of the people, reports AVN.
“When Petrocaribe was founded, when Chávez came up with that idea, it was something that transformed the region and helped Belize work on social programs and agriculture, to help those most in need,” he said.
On the other hand, he thanked the cooperation ties that have been maintained for more than 30 years with the nation.
“The people of Belize are grateful for the friendship and for all the cooperation that has been carried out between both countries,” he said.
