The National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba will host the exhibition from next December 8 Wifredo Lam indivisible, a sample of the most relevant of the artistic itinerary of the prolific painter, according to official media on the Island
The exhibition is based on the musical concept Don’t divide, “which in the Cuban cultural context was used by the teacher Roberto Valera”. In a free translation it means indivisible, according to the comments of the institution on its Facebook profile, reviewed by the Prensa Latina (PL) agency.
The museum’s Cuban Art Building will host the proposal that articulates Lam’s most relevant journey, which “takes place in a consecratory journey from Paris to Havana, with a triumphant return to Europe without forgetting his Antillean roots,” the report added.
This time the exhibition will be made up of 69 paintings, drawings and engravings, and “each stage acts as a communication channel for the next”, highlights the text released by the emblematic cultural institution.
PL specifies that the doors of this exhibition will be open until February 26, 2023. It combines pieces that marked Lam’s career in various latitudes such as France, Spain, the United States and Italy, and that demonstrate the solidity of the “seamless” creator’s work.
“His paintings and engravings, drawings and ceramics constitute a unique and indestructible expression for all that he represents for Cuban art,” states the document reviewed by the agency, while highlighting the indivisible value of the artist’s work, which delights through the rhythm of the composition as a means of universal poetic expression.
Lam’s, which includes engravings and sculptures with an unmistakable style, is highly valued among experts and lovers of plastic arts in Cuba and the world.
