Dora María Téllez was violently and arbitrarily detained on June 13, 2021. In parallel, the Ortega Police arrested other leaders of the Unión Democrática Renovadora (Unamos), including Víctor Hugo Tinoco, Ana Margarita Vijil, Suyen Barahona and Hugo Torres, who died under police custody on February 12, 2022.

Unamos celebrated the recognition of the prestigious house of studies. “The Sorbonne University, by unanimous decision, has granted Dora María Téllez the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, thus honoring her political and scientific career, her lifelong commitment to social justice and democracy in #Nicaragua and with the Latin American region. », expressed the political group through its Twitter account.
