This Friday, at 10:00 in the morning, local sales began in Peru for the fourth date of Romeo Santos. A couple of hours later, more than 25% of the tickets had already been sold. He is expected to sell them all this same day. This is “The Formula Tour Vol.3”
The detail was learned in a meeting with Amelfis Díaz, the artist’s manager, who narrated with a small group of journalists, the enthusiasm that the artist and his team have, for achieving four dates in a row in a country where the most they have done other artists have been two dates.
The sold-out dates are February 10, February 11, February 12 and… the one corresponding to February 14, Valentine’s Day, 2023 is being sold.
«Romeo began by creating an expectation through his networks asking which country to start the tour with, to put his flags on it. As a result of that Peru left. So we did. When the pre-sale came out at the National Stadium of Peru, which holds 43,086 people, -oh, surprise- after 25 minutes the pre-sale ended and then, after 40 minutes, there was a line of 200,000-odd people. The concert was sold between 40 minutes and an hour. Anyway, at 5:00 the ticket office announced the sun out. The promoter Janio Mejía from Tropimusic called me and told me ‘look Amelfis, I had so many people left, I want the second one, what do you have to do after here…?’, explained the artist’s manager.
He says that they agreed to make the second date, for the next day. «Oh surprise, the next day the sale was released and it was sold in four or five hours. There the artist, as is normal, is happy and the promoter was euphoric. ‘Please, Romeo the third.’ Ok, we agreed, let’s do the third function. Romeo said in a video: ‘third and last’, because we didn’t know what was going to happen either. The same. The same math. The third date was sold. I asked the promoter, but what is happening in Peru with Romeo fans? and he told me: ‘look Amelfis, not even the commitments and the station that I have have reached me. Only from the first one I was able to get 4,000 tickets to raffle. I had to sell them.”
According to Amelfis, they lasted several days, and the promoter insisted, insisting on a fourth date. «I told him no. The artist said third and last and if something has Romeo is word. Then the Peruvian fans began to send video messages, asking for a fourth date. Personalities, show business figures, footballers, simple followers, who tangued Romeo, his manager, the promoter…
“Romeomania is unleashed,” said one. “There’s no more ticket left and we can’t wait to see you,” read another. “Wherever you go, on the radio, in the networks, in the houses, people comment that there is no ticket and they could not get it,” explains a third party.
«It took me a lot of work to convince Romeo. I told him, ‘Look Anthony, the promoter told me that there was a line of 109,000 people left without getting tickets for that third performance.’ And he answered: ‘But I already said that the third was the last.’ Well, with all the requests from the fans, from the personalities, he was convinced and I told the promoter: ‘OK, we’re going to do the last and fourth. And do not ask for more ».
He assured that sales began today at 10:00 in the morning in Peru (11:00 here).
This should be considered a success not only for Romeo, not only for bachata, but for Latin music.
As commented in the meeting with the press, other artists are calling the promoter because they want to go with him.
Several songs from the album are heard with real insistence on radio stations: “La Suegra”, “Bebo”, “El pañuela” and “Solo conmigo”, among others.
For now, on February 10, 11, 12 and 14, Romeo will reign in Peru.
