Bancada RN notifies the INDH that it will again reject funds restored by the Senate

Through a letter addressed to the councilors of the organization, the bench of deputies of National Renewal notified the National Institute of Human Rights that it will reject -again- the funds restored by the Senate within the framework of the processing of the 2023 Budget.

According to slogan emolin the letter, the parliamentarians Andrés Longton and Sofía Cid stated that “we will reject the appeals filed in the Senate, since we consider that there are no explanations that clear up the important doubts that have arisen as a result of the facts that are reported; which, in our opinion, tarnishes the work of the Institute and decomposes the cordial relationship that it should have with both branches of Congress”.

Along the same lines, the deputies gave their grounds for the decision, alluding to a “need” to “demand guarantees.”

“In the specific case of the National Institute of Human Rights, we glimpse the need to demand guarantees and concrete actions that better outline its actions, not only in relation to the legitimate apprehensions that we as deputies may have in this regard, but always in view of to the good performance that the organism must observe to fulfill its important mission”, they commented.

They also ruled that “the Institute and particularly its Council have been in question before public opinion at least since last year, a time when a series of complaints began to be unveiled about facts that would call into question its objectivity, independence and impartiality. “
