This Friday the second round of matches of the different groups of the Qatar 2022 World Cup began, where Wales and Iran met at the Ahmed Bin Ali stadium corresponding to group B.
The first half did not provide great emotions with Wales dominating possession of the ball, but without creating dangerous plays, while Iran had Gholizadeh’s goal disallowed for offside at minute 16, being the only clear option to score in the second half. In the first 45 minutes, the Iranians changed their image compared to the match against England where they lost by a landslide.
At minute 52′ the Iranians had a great opportunity when in the same play they crashed the ball twice against the post, incredibly losing the option to open the scoring, the Asian team continued to attack incessantly without a response from Wales that in most of the second part of them were only dedicated to defending themselves to avoid the Iranian score.
In the last minutes of the game, Wales was left with 10 men after the expulsion of goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey who committed a strong foul outside the small area, taking the red card, and in stoppage time the Iranians continued to attack and their reward came with the goal from Roozbeh Cheshmi at 90+9, the Iranian fans in the stands were still celebrating when Ramin Rezaeian scored the second at 90+11 for Iran’s well-deserved victory.
With this result, the aspirations of Wales are complicated, which remains with one point, while Iran adds three units in group B, on the following date the Iranians face the United States and Wales will face England.
