Some 20,298 tourists entered the four protected areas of the province of Chiriquí during the year 2021, as reported by the Ministry of the Environment, one year after the gradual reopening of access to protected areas, at the national level.
The Volcán Barú National Park (PNVB) is the one that has reported the highest number of visits with 9 thousand 616 tourists, followed by the Gulf of Chiriquí National Marine Park (PNMGCh) with 7 thousand 95 visitors.
While 1,251 people entered La Amistad International Park (PILA) and 2,336 visitors entered La Barqueta Agrícola Wildlife Refuge (RVSLB).
For reasons of improvements in the structures and with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of visitors, the Los Quetzales Trail, in the PNVB, remains with suspended access.
