“The economic impact caused by the pandemic has made it impossible for several provinces to advance with the previous indications, such as the maintenance of the land and the improvement of dressing rooms and benches, improvised for the event in many cases,” said Rodríguez.
The manager also referred to difficulties that do not need so many resources: “irrigation continues to be a debt and the overuse of the land does not allow the quality of the grass to improve,” he said.
“There is progress in the availability of courts in the provincial capitals, which favors popular participation and the influx of the public. That empowers football as a show and a social phenomenon, “he acknowledged.
“In traditional stadiums such as Banes, Manatí and Jiguaní, difficulties have been detected with insurance and the possibilities for fans to attend, so other options must be managed in the provincial capitals,” he stressed.
The manager maintained that a territorial investment strategy is required with that perspective, and took as a good example what was done in Camagüey, where in the midst of the pandemic, stands were installed on the field of the capital city that will host the start of the game on February 12. opening tournament.
Referring to the progress, Oliet mentioned that “the clothing of the athletes, coaches and referees, along with the competition balls, are in the power of each province.”
The AFC commission, which also includes the head of the development office, José Yulier Herranz, was concerned about the facilities where the national futsal championship is to be played. He verified the current state of the routes and the needs to improve them.
Oliet assured that the health protocols and preventive security measures are in place for match days. And he added that “they hope the stages will be decorated so that it will be the maximum party in these territories, enhancing the local identity and that of Cuban soccer,” he concluded.
