The 43rd edition of Havana Latin American Film Festival will be inaugurated on December 1 with the screening of the Argentine film by Santiago Mitre,1985as reported by its organizers on Tuesday.
The new call will have a majority presence of tapes of ArgentinaMexico and Brazil, but it will experience a drastic decrease in the number of films on display according to data offered at a press conference by the event’s director, Yumey Besú Bayo.

According to Besú Bayo, this time 185 titles will be exhibited, of which 103 will be in competition, an important difference with respect to previous years, reports the agency efe.
“We have thought about it based on being able to reach (even more) the public,” he explained. For this edition -which will be held until December 11- tapes from the last three years were taken into account.
The organizers received more than 2,000 films to be considered in this edition, the first to be held in its traditional format after two limited by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before the start of the press conference, the lights in the room were turned off and a concert offered at the 34th edition of the Festival by the emblematic Cuban singer-songwriter was screened. Pablo Milanés, who died on the night of Monday to Tuesday in Madrid, at 79 years of age. “We could not start in any other way,” said Besú, quoted by the Spanish agency.
They also highlighted the increase in the presence of female directors in the contest, since nine of the 15 nominations in the First Film category are headed by women.
The theoretical part will deal with issues related to artificial intelligence and new technologies in cinema and film distribution, according to a note published by the official newspaper Granma. Another theme will be dedicated to the work of Cuban filmmaker Nicolás Guillen Landirián.
It was also known that the program includes three poster exhibitions; the traditional one in the lobby of the Chaplin cinema, the Ghost Posters at 23 and 12 and Fabulosa Habana at Casa Saúl Yelín, located at 19 and 2, Vedado.
Two new printed titles from Ediciones will also be presented ICAICthe entire catalog in ebook format and several audiobooks dedicated to children.
