The storage of the Cutzamala System is 22.8 percent below the historical average, with an average filling of 62.9 percent in its three dams, reported the National Water Commission (Conagua). The moderate drought in the basin, which is located between the state of Mexico and Michoacán, covers 16.6 percent of its territory and 56 percent is in abnormally dry conditions, only 27.3 percent is free of drought, he reported.

In a message lasting about a minute during the weekly session of the Technical Committee for the Operation of Hydraulic Works, the director of Conagua, Germán Martínez, indicated that a few days ago the Cutzamala System was seriously threatened by a failure in a transformer, which which was attended in coordination with the National Electricity Commission, therefore the volumes of the liquid foreseen for one month were not reduced.

In the specific report on Cutzamala, Conagua specified that the storage in the hydrological year (which runs from November to October) is similar to 2009, a year with the lowest storage, and this will continue at least until February.

Also during this November, in the El Bosque dam there has been no rain, in Valle de Bravo it has been 40 percent less, and in Villa Victoria there was more rainfall. The storage in the vessels is in Villa Victoria 50.6 percent of filling; Valle de Bravo, 56.5 percent, and El Bosque, 86.9 percent.

Regarding the drought in the national territory, he announced that as of November 15, the areas with abnormally dry conditions and drought in portions of Durango, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo and southern Veracruz were improved. , as well as the Yucatan Peninsula.

Meanwhile, areas with abnormally dry conditions and moderate drought in western, central, and northeastern Mexico increased. He pointed out that extreme drought emerged in the northeast, while abnormally dry areas increased in the southeast of the country and the Yucatan Peninsula.
