The Subway and Premetro Workers Union Association (AGTSyP), led by Roberto Pianelli, announced new “self-defense measures” for this Wednesday on Line C for claim a reduction in working hours and denounce the delay in the purchase of trains new ones by the Government of the City that replace the uunits contaminated with asbestos, a highly carcinogenic material.
From 1 to 2 p.m., the metro delegates will open the turnstiles at the Constitución Station and from 2 to 3 p.m. the service will be interrupted throughout Line C, union sources reported.
“We still have not received responses from Emova to the request to reduce the weekly working day, to work five days, a situation aggravated by the lack of personnel in all sectors and by the delay in the purchase of new trains without asbestos by the Government of the City”, reported from the union.

In addition, they recalled that the asbestos is “a carcinogenic mineral”and that currently 75 workers suffer from “conditions caused by exposure to this mineral” and “unfortunately three” have already passed away for “diseases caused by asbestos”.
“For workers, reducing the weekly workday would mean reducing exposure to this carcinogen and gaining in health,” they stressed.
Finally, Pianelli and the union’s deputy, Néstor Segovia, summoned the emova company to what “reflect on your attitude that harms the workers and the users”.
“We apologize to those who are affected by this self-defense measure for labor rights and the safety of all,” they closed from the union entity.
