Havana: Open book of condolences for the death of Pablo Milanés

Havana Cuba. – On the occasion of the death of Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés, this Tuesday a book of condolences was opened to pay tribute to him at his recording studio PM Records, located on 11th Street, between I and J, in Vedado.

Part of the Havana people attended the headquarters of PM Records, which was also the residence of Pablo Milanés, to bid farewell to the troubadour.

The signing of the book of condolences, convened by the singer-songwriter’s family, will be available to the Cuban people this November 22 and 23, from 10:00 in the morning to 2:00 in the afternoon.

“Today, at 2:00 pm in the place where he established his space, where he was happy recording his music for Cuba and the world for the last 25 years, a book of condolences will be opened for everyone who wants to come. Calle 11 between I and J, Vedado”, invited Haydée Milanésdaughter of the artist.

The singer also thanked “the beautiful and sincere gestures of love” towards her father. “To all his people and his people who mourn him today, I want to tell you that all the love you feel for him is the same love that he felt for you,” she said.

At the same time, this Tuesday a cantata dedicated to Pablo is performed in the central courtyard of the Cuba Pavilion, in which troubadours such as Pacho Amat, Ariel Díaz, Frank Fernández, Heidi Igualada, Pepe Ordaz, Gerardo Alfonso and Eduardo Sosa pay homage to one of the founders of the Nueva Trova movement.

Likewise, several vigils have been announced to honor Pablo Milanés. At the El Mejunje cultural center, in the city of Santa Clara, a tribute will be paid to the troubadour on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, in the city of Miami, specifically on the boardwalk of the Ermita de la Caridad, a singing vigil will be held on November 23.

Pablo Milanes passed away this Tuesday in Spain at 79 years old. The emblematic Cuban singer-songwriter suffered from an oncological disease for which he spent 10 days admitted to a hospital in Madrid.

His last concert in Cuba took place last June at the Ciudad Deportiva Coliseum, as pressure from the Cuban people prevented it from being held in the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater, a smaller stage.

The burning chapel of the creator of classic songs such as “Yolanda” and “El breve espacio en que no estás” will be held this November 23 at the Cervantes Hall of the Casa de América, in Spain.
