The South American U-15 Basketball tournament, for the women’s team, will begin this Wednesday in Santiago de Chile, with the participation of eight teams, which will be divided into two series in the first phase. Three places will be at stake for the FIBA America Sub-16 in 2023.
Bolivia will make its debut in the tournament this Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. (HB) facing Paraguay. The other teams that make up the series are Chile, with which they will compete on Thursday, and Argentina, with which they will face off on Friday.
Group B is made up of Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador and Uruguay. On this occasion, Peru and Venezuela are not represented.
“The women’s team is very good. I have great hope for women’s basketball, They are quite tall girls, good players, outstanding throughout the country: we have from Beni, Santa Cruz, La Paz, Cochabamba, Sucre, so I think we will have great representation,” said Juan Luis Coronado, president of the Bolivian Basketball Federation. (FBB).
The team is made up of 12 players.: Anahí Menacho, María Banega, Adriana Herbas, Renata Bordin, María Viveros, Sara Hillman, Miel Égüez, María Méndez, Paola Escobar, Sofía Reyes, Luciana Cavero and Daira Alias. The DT is Luciano Martinez.
“The work of this period has been fundamentally, of fundamentals of individual technique, from next year we will think about training more in the competition to reach a better level”, added Coronado.
The tournament will be held at the Ñuñoa Olympic Training Center. LThe best two from each series will advance to the semifinals. and the winners of that phase will dispute the title.
