The Argentine customs authorities seized at the border with Salto Grande more than 100 kilos of cocaine that were hidden in a truck that came from Paraguay and was destined for the port of Montevideo.
According to the primary information released, the truck carrying corn left the city of Asunción. The cargo was going to be exported from the Montevidean port.
The interception of the drug shipment occurred within the framework of an investigation carried out by the Argentine prosecutor Analía Ramponi, indicated Montevideo Portal. The investigation aimed to be alert to the border movements of trucks from the Paraguayan company to which the vehicle where the drugs were found belonged.
Argentine Customs personnel worked in the procedure in collaboration with the Argentine Gendarmerie. In total, 103,400 grams of cocaine was found hidden, distributed in almost 100 bricks.
For this fact, the authorities of the neighboring country arrested two people, who are already at the disposal of Justice. The Uruguayan National Customs Directorate joined the investigation to work together.
It should be noted that this seizure occurred the same day that Uruguay intercepted a shipment with 653 kilos of cocaine. These were hidden in a container located in the port of Montevideo. As in this case, the drug was accompanied by frozen meat that a Paraguayan company mobilized.
