This Thursday, November 22, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Irene Vélez, reported that the country is experiencing a downward trend in rates of Energy electricity that for October had a reduction of 4.2%.

The reduction is compared to the month of August, before the Tariff Justice Agreement began, as reported by the minister in the middle of the political control debate on energy rates in the Senate.
Vélez, in turn, said that the rise would have stopped with an average reduction of 813 pesos at the national level “thus fulfilling users with a reduction that the country had not historically seen in this way”.
He even highlighted that in some departments the reduction reached 10%, as was the case of Tolima. The minister explained that in the month of August, when the new government entered, the national average rate was 848 pesos.
Likewise, it clarified that a stratum four (4) family that consumes 150 kilowatt hours per month, in average could be paying 134 thousand pesos per month. After the agreement, he would be paying 121,000 pesos a month.

Along with this, of the 29 operators nationwide80% presented a rate reduction during October. Likewise, Vélez affirmed that his portfolio is studying the particularities of each region, in order to establish clear rules with a differential approach, which allow finding long-term structural solutions.
“We are working on designing special measures for the Caribbean region that we can implement to solve the problems associated with the high payments for energy losses that users assume.yeah,” he concluded.
