The executive director of the National Institute of Consumer Rights (Pro Consumidor)Eddy Alcántara, called on consumers to buy with confidence on the occasion of Black Friday or Black Friday, while he assured that there is no possibility of their rights being ripped off with misleading advertising.

Alcántara explained that due to the procedures created by this institution since his arrival, “misleading advertising has been definitively eradicated in most businesses in the Dominican Republic.”

One of the Pro Consumidor inspectors checks the prices of items that could be offered in sales on the occasion of Black Friday.

He stated that most of the establishments with a large commercial flow in the country due to the offers that they offer consumers in household appliances and other items, “are aware of the monitoring and support of Pro Consumidor on the occasion of the reference date, especially the verification of the prices that these products have before the arrival of Black Friday ”.

In this sense, he explained that he will personally monitor the main businesses in Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Santiago and San Pedro de Macorís, “because we do not want him to make a single complaint or denunciation of misleading advertising.”

The official pointed out that all the collaborators of the Inspection and Surveillance, Good Commercial Practices and Advertising and Prices departments are scattered throughout the national territory to “guarantee that citizens can buy with confidence and acquire the offers of the businesses without any kind of of camouflage in relation to the prices of the products”.

He also indicated that from the Pro Consumer platform, people will be able to see the most commercialized items on the occasion of Black Friday to compare the behavior of prices in the last five weeks until the arrival of the holiday.

The head of the entity that defends consumer rights expressed that he hopes that, as in 2021, and the other subsequent days of greater commercial flow “no type of claim or complaint will be received in the country for this scourge.”

Finally, he stated that “I am confident that everything will go according to what was agreed upon in the operations and strategies designed by Pro Consumer”.
