After 84 days without visits, the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo allowed the political prisoners of El Nuevo Chipote to be seen by a family member. As of Saturday, November 19, relatives of detained opponents were authorized to appear at the Directorate of Judicial Assistance.
Ill treatment, isolation, health problems and poor nutrition prevail in the cells. They point out that the prisoners continue to lose weight and demand a bible, a blanket or reading material, requests that are denied.

At least five of the detainees were on a hunger strike. One of the cases is that of the sports writer Miguel Mendoza, who requests a meeting with his eight-year-old daughter Alejandra. He has not seen her since June 21, 2021, when he was imprisoned for commenting on social networks.
Another of the prisoners who has already received a visit from their relatives was Medardo Mairena. On Sunday they verified that the inhumane conditions persist to the point that the peasant leader was detained for a month in a punishment cell without any justification.
The son of the former Ortega mayor of Managua, Daysi Torres, Allan Roman Mendieta Torreswould have left Nicaragua with the aim of reaching the United States.
According to sources, Mendieta Torres is in Mexico waiting to be able to cross irregularly into US territory. The citizen would have requested a stay permit for thirty days, which is provided by the immigration authorities of the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.
