The National Immigration Service applied the administrative measures of return and inadmission to the national territory, to a total of 6,593 foreign citizens of different nationalities, during the year 2021.

Among the main reasons found in the cases of return, it was possible to detect: inconsistency in the interview, without economic solvency, without a visa, entry impediment, without a valid passport and fraudulent documentation; In addition, other causes of inadmission were people with a criminal record and entry impediment.

The highest rate of returns and non-admissions during the year 2021 occurred among Colombian citizens, with 2,995 followed by Nicaraguans, with 705; Ecuadorians (452), Venezuelans (163), Cubans (132) and citizens of other countries (2,146), between inadmissible and returned.

The National Immigration Service has among its functions to authorize, deny or prohibit the entry or stay of foreigners in the national territory and order their deportation, expulsion or return, in accordance with the Political Constitution and Decree Law #3 of February 22, 2008.
