The fencing of the new Tacna wholesale market begins

Authorities of the Provincial Municipality of Tacna, merchants and residents participated this Monday in the laying of the first stone for the construction of the perimeter fence in the Chololo farm, land where the future Tacna wholesale market will be built.

Mayor Julio Medina Castro indicated that in this way the construction of the new Tacna wholesale market begins, through the first component, valued at 1’827,841 soles. The works will be done via direct administration within a period of 90 days.

Development pole in Leguía

“We want this sector of Leguía and Chololo to be a place of development, the Grau market only has three hectares and it has been completely exceeded, this land has 11.8 hectares,” he explained.

He indicated that a tripartite agreement was drawn up: the Regional Government transferred the land, the Ministry of Production financed the project and the municipality will do the construction.

Land reserved for market

He stressed that parallel to this work, the second lane of Zarumilla Avenue will be executed to boost the sector.

In 2007, the master plan of the city of Tacna was approved, in which this land is reserved for the future wholesale market.
