The governor of central bank of the Republic, Héctor Valdez Albizu, assured that the year 2022 has been “extraordinary” for the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic, exceeding all expectations and registering “unprecedented” flows in the arrival of non-resident passengers, accumulating 5.8 million visitors in ten months.
Valdez Albizu said that these data are in accordance with those announced by the Ministry of Tourismthat is, 7.4% and 8.7% more non-resident visitors than in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
“It is projected that by the end of 2022 non-resident visitors will be around 7.2 million, exceeding the threshold of seven million for the first time in history, with income from sightseeing that will exceed 8,500 million Dollarsan all-time high,” he explained.
