Yamila Batista, 36, is the last woman murdered in Cuba at the hands of her partner. The event occurred this Sunday in the Mantilla neighborhood, in the Havana municipality of Arroyo Naranjo, as confirmed by the feminist platform Yo Sí Te Creo through their social networks. The victim had two children, a 19-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy.
According to what her relatives reported on the networks, Batista had recently moved into a house and that the attacker, the father of her son, did not stop harassing her.

Batista’s femicide is number 32 in Cuba so far in 2022. The previous one reported was that of Yanet Martinez Guzman47 years old, who on October 27 was murdered with a machete by her ex-partner in the municipality of Minas, in Camagüey.
October was a bloody month for Cuban women, with four femicides. The first of them came out on October 11, although it happened on October 3, when the Cuban actor Jesús Rodríguez Vázquez murdered his ex-wife, Nodis Morales, and then hanged himself.
Later, Santiago de Cuba was the scene of two murders in just one week. The first, on October 16, Yadira Sueiro Pérez, 22, was attacked by her ex-partner with a machete in the town of Corralón, located in the Songo La Maya municipality of Santiago. Three days later, Eudelvis Leyva Rivera, 19 years old and mother of a nine-month-old girl, was found lifeless with several wounds on her body, a victim of rape and her throat cut.
A week later, the Alas Tensas and Yo Sí Te Creo observatories confirmed the violent death of Lisandra Fernandez34 years old, who died at the hands of her husband in the city of Las Tunas.
