MIAMI, United States. — This weekend the Alianza Cristianos de Cuba was established in the province of Las Tunas, an organization that will seek to work for freedom of association and worship on the island, as well as demand the immediate release of all political prisoners, accompany and assist them .
A report from the Cuban Human Rights Observatory (OCDH) indicates that the Alliance has among its objectives to seek solutions for poverty and precariousness in which the vast majority of the population lives and the immediate invalidation of the new Family Codeapproved in a popular referendum last September.
“Gathered in the city of Las Tunas, Cuba, the undersigned, in exercise of our rights, have convened to discuss the existential crisis that the Cuban people are going through, a crisis that has been evidenced in the ‘Fifth report on the situation of the social rights in Cuba’, which has been a reference in the debate that we have just held in the constituent assembly”, indicates the constitutive document of the organization.
The Alliance emphasized the precariousness that exists today on the Island, a situation that has become even worse due to the repression.
“Our people today suffer the worst difficulties after decades of hardship, years of constant deprivation of their rights and freedoms, deficiencies that have eaten away at society to the point of poisoning all areas of human endeavor.”
The organization recalled that this “desolate panorama” “has left our country at the gates of a failed State, in the midst of a state of siege repression, with thousands of people imprisoned for saying what they think or thinking what they say or for ask for what they want.”
The founding of the Christian Alliance of Cuba was attended by more than thirty community leaders who will try to extend pastoral work to all regions of Cuba.
