Congressman Carlos Anderson (not grouped) spoke on the question of trust presented by the chief of staff, Aníbal Torres, last Thursday, November 17, in front of the plenary session of Congress, with the aim of repealing Law No. 31399 , which limits constitutional reforms through a referendum.
The parliamentarian emphasized that the Government presented this appeal with the purpose of victimizing itself at the international level, within the framework of the arrival of the High Level Group of the Organization of American States (OAS).
“Raise a question of confidence, in the terms in which it has been done, It constitutes another attempt to show an attitude of victimization, not only at the national level, but also internationally. This is a shame”, he asserted in dialogue with RPP.
Next, Anderson pointed out that Parliament knows that the prime minister’s request has no legal basis, so he considered that the request should be sent to the archive. In this sense, he opined that the objective of the Executive is to close the Legislative.
“The congressmen know that what the premier has requested is a legal impossibility, that deserves a response. I believe that the response of Congress should be to send it to the archive, because it is not appropriate. It is clear to us that the objective is to close Congress at any rate, this is an anti-democratic objective”,
Question of confidence
This last Thursday, the head of the ministerial cabinet raised a question of confidence before the plenary session of Parliament to demand that a new bill be approved to modify the restrictions against the referendum.
Before the plenary session, Torres Vásquez called this initiative a norm that “restores the political participation of the people”.
