The Ortega regime extends the freezing of fuels above five dollars

Gasoline price in Nicaragua remains above five dollars per gallon

The Nicaraguan Institute of Energy (INE) and the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) of the Central American country extended by one week the period for freezing fuel prices for transportation and cooking, their authorities reported this Saturday.

The extension of the stability of fuel prices will enter into force as of tomorrow, Sunday, and will be valid for seven days, in accordance with the state resolution.

In this way, the cost of superior gasoline, used in light cars, will remain at 5.13 dollars, and that of regular gasoline, applied in old cars and SUVs, will continue at 5 dollars; while diesel, used in cargo and collective transportation, will be held at $4.52 per gallon (3.78 liters).

The owners of vehicles that run on diesel will have savings equivalent to 0.14 dollars per gallon, reported the INE, which is equivalent to 0.40 cents less than in the previous week. The authorities did not report the amount that gasoline car owners will save.

The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will also remain stable, although it varies depending on the size of the tank and the department (province) where it is sold.

It will be the thirty-third week in a row with frozen fuel prices, in a country where gasoline and diesel charges are not regulated by law.

The prices of fuels for transportation and food preparation have remained frozen in Nicaragua since the beginning of last April.

According to the Executive, every week the State of Nicaragua between 4 million dollars and 6 million dollars, to assume 100% of the increases in international oil prices.

Nicaragua has a fund of 200 million dollars as part of a credit line of up to 800 million dollars, provided by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) to finance a regional support program in the face of the global rise in prices of fuels.

The Nicaraguan authorities also ordered stability in the price of liquefied petroleum gas, used in Nicaragua for food preparation, the cost of which has remained unchanged since the beginning of last April and which varies depending on the size of the tank and the city where it is sold. .
