A prison involved in the death of "La Reina" of Santiago

After three postponements of the hearing, this Saturday a measure of coercion was known against one of two defendants for the death of Ana Francisca Gómez, better known as “The Queen“, on his tik tok account, in an event that occurred on Friday, October 7.

The judge of the office of permanent attention of the judicial district of SantiagoBienvenido Liz, ordered three months of preventive detention against Wander Robert Peña Angomás, who was driving the motorcycle on which the woman’s murderers were transported, who was traveling in a white BMW car along 27 de Febrero avenue near the corner of Salvador Estrella Sadhalá, in the province Santiago.

Peña Angomás must comply with the measure in the Pinito penitentiary center (CCR), in La Vega. His brother, the police officer arrested during the same raid and identified as Wilfin Gerónimo Sánchez Angomás, was released from the homicideHowever, he was charged with possession of an illegal firearm and abduction of a minor.

Wilfin was released, but he was ordered to appear periodically in court, a decision that was criticized by the plaintiff lawyer, Juan Carlos Báez Peralta.

“We did not agree with the freedom of the brother, because a month after the death a search was made in his house and he had all the objects, the protective helmet, the coat and other instruments or objects used in the murder of the young woman, where they were in the policeman’s house”.

Regarding the relatives of the murdered woman, the lawyer pointed out that they had to leave their residence in Santiagofor fear of reprisals from the accused.

“Right now our clients, in this case the complainants, can see themselves persecuted, they even had to leave the province Santiagoand go to other towns for fear that they will take reprisals,” said the lawyer for the plaintiff.

The Public Ministry is working to identify the perpetrator or gunman, who remains a fugitive.

The alleged hitmen would have received a payment of RD$400,000 for the death of the woman, but it is unknown who would have paid to have her executed.

The detainee is accused of the commission of murder and association of criminals, crimes defined and punished in articles 265, 266, 297 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code, as well as article 67 of Law 631-16, for the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition and Related Materials.
