The prosecutor of the Asrtesiano case, Gabriela Fossati, asked to be removed from the investigation

The prosecutor Gabriela Fossati, who leads the investigation into the case involving Alejandro Astesianoformer head of custodians of President Luis Lacalle Pou, asked the court prosecutor, Juan Gómez, to refer the case to a department of Complex Crimes.
As reported by Montevideo Portal, Fossati explained that she took on the case because it was “agreed” that in November they would transfer her to the Economic Crimes Prosecutor’s Office.
Nevertheless, The Observer confirmed that Gómez decided to wait for the investigation on Astesiano to be completed to finalize the change, an action that generated the anger of the prosecutor, who intended to continue the case from the new role.
“I am very upset about many things,” she told The Observer.
In addition, the prosecutor confessed that since the investigation began, she did not feel the support of the Attorney General’s Office. “I think that the importance of the investigation deserves that it be assigned to a prosecutor who has real support from the hierarchy,” she said in a conversation with Montevideo Portal.
“The best thing for the case seems to be that I do not follow it”said the prosecutor, who clarified that she will follow the orders of her superiors, but that she wanted to be removed from the case.
