EU allocates 200,000 euros to support those affected by rains in the country

The European Union (EU) allocated 200,000 euros for support 7,000 people affected by the rains in the countrywhich, since last April, have affected at least 26,000 families and left 94 dead, the community bloc delegation reported this Friday, November 18.

“In response to the damage caused by the floods of the last two months, the European Union has allocated 200,000 euros (1,681,878 bolivars) in humanitarian financing to help the most affected people,” says one Press release.

This financing, the letter continues, will support the Venezuelan Red Cross “in providing the necessary emergency assistance in terms of shelter, health, psychosocial support, water, sanitation and hygiene promotion.”

These are 7,000 people “who lost their belongings as a result of the floods or whose homes suffered partial or severe damage, mainly serving families with minors, the elderly, people with disabilities or single mothers,” the text states.

The rains have caused damage of varying intensity to at least 14,000 homes -some multi-family- since April 1, when the rainy season began, in the midst of which numerous avalanches, landslides and landslides have been recorded.
