The longest indefinite strike in the history of Bolivia is four weeks old this Saturday of the extreme measure for a Population and Housing Census in 2023. The national authorities, who have had several failed meetings, in different parts of the country, do not reach an agreement with Santa Cruz to defuse the crisis.

The lack of guarantees for the distribution of parliamentary seats in the departments, economic redistribution and the holding of the 2025 elections -with a new electoral register- are unresolved issuesry for which the population is still on the streets despite the high temperatures.

In yesterday’s session, Vincent Cuellar, president of the Inter-institutional Commission for the Census, indicated that the Constitution Commission and the Chamber of Deputies will begin the treatment of the Law for the Census from Monday, November 21.

Cuéllar, who is also rector of the Gabriel René Moreno University, was in the city of La Paz making arrangements for the norm is analyzed, debated and approved as soon as possible in the Plurinational Legislative Assembly.

This Saturday Cuéllar will meet with the civics to report the conclusions he reached with Jerges Mercado, president of the Chamber of Deputies and those responsible for the commissions, for which reason a new pronouncement from the regional leaders on the measures to be followed is expected in the next few hours.

On this day, markets and supermarkets open their doors to serve customers, who are looking to restock. They will be able to do it until noon, since after that the streets and avenues will again be blocked by the neighbors.

The population was asked to go to their supply centers on foot or by bicycle, in addition to doing so in an orderly manner so that the day passes calmly and efficiently for customers and merchants.

In recent days Santa Cruz has endured high temperatures and this weekend will be no exception. According to the report of the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (Senamhi), this Saturday in the capital the thermometer will rise between 35 and 37 degrees, a similar situation will take place in the provinces, especially in the Chaco, Chiquitania and northern Santa Cruz regions. .

Cristina Chirinos, an expert in meteorology, informed that the arrival of rains with electrical storms, of moderate to light intensity, is expected at the end of Sunday afternoon.

The rainfall will reach the Integrated North of Santa Cruz (Sara, Ichilo, Santistevan, Warnes and Andrés Ibáñez). As for the rest of the country, the rains will occur in the Cochabamba Tropics, the north of La Paz, Beni and Pando.
