Airport Department holds second public hearing on Cabo Rojo International Airport

Oviedo, Pedernales. Representative sectors of Pedernales participated this Friday in the second public hearing on the International Airport project red capework that is part of the Tourism Development Plan of that province that the government executes.

The public hearing was organized in the municipality of Oviedo by the Airport Department (DA), together with the Pro-Pedernales Trust and the General Directorate of the Public Private Alliance, to present on this occasion the results of the environmental impact study of the work.

“With the presentation of these environmental impact studies, the first stage of this top government project is exhausted, to proceed to the subsequent steps of the plan for the development of Pedernales,” explained the deputy director Luis Cabrera, who spoke on behalf of the director DA executive, Víctor Pichardo.

In its presentation, the international company Empaca determined that in the environmental impact studies in which the physical baseline, flora, fauna, social aspects, environmental impacts and management plan were analyzed, it was concluded that the construction of the airport is completely viable.

The vice president of Empaca, Mario Méndez, indicated that from the consultations carried out in the community, 92% of the municipalities consider the construction of this airport as positive, assuring that it will bring progress to the province.

The first public hearing was held on November 4 in this same municipality, where the Los Tres Charcos community is located, where the air terminal will be built.

Among the authorities present were the mayor of Oviedo, Ramón Pérez, and the deputies for Pedernales, Héctor Féliz and Edirda D’óleo.

In addition to Cabrera, the legal director Leandro Santana, and the technical director Chritiern Broberg, the engineers José Aybar and Rafael Duarte, in charge of infrastructure and airport supervision, respectively, participated in the DA.
