Rosalía beats Bad Bunny and wins the Latin Grammy for best album of the year with “Motomami”

Rosalía was proclaimed the winner with her album “Motomami” in the category of best album of the year at the 23rd Latin Grammy Awards, an edition in which she competed, among others, with the Puerto Rican Bad Bunny (“Un Verano Sin Ti”). .

«This is the album that I have had to fight the most to be able to make. It was hard, but I pushed forward,” the Spanish artist said emotionally from the stage of the Michelob ULTRA Arena, where the 2022 Latin Grammys were being held.

An event that just concluded with the victory of the Spanish artist in the queen category and that extols her legacy.

«It took me three years to do it, I thought Jorge was going to win again. (…) Congratulations, Jorge”, the author of the commercial success “Despechá” joked about the victory of the Uruguayan composer in the sections of best recording and song of the year for “Tocarte”, together with the Spanish C. Tangana.

Minutes later and dressed in a gold dress, Rosalía appeared in the press room under the watchful eye of journalists and her partner, also an artist Rauw Alejandro.

“My happiness is to share this moment with my loved ones,” argued a smiling Rosalía who took advantage of the moment to thank Latin America and Spain for ensuring that her music does not decline.

“I feel very proud to succeed with an album led by myself as a woman,” added the Spaniard to end by stressing that this musical project was the result of “a great transformation.”

According to the winner of the Latin Grammy in the category for best album of the year, “change entails movement and progress” and that is the reason for the success of “Motomami”.

Rosalía competed with Christina Aguilera (“Aguilera”), Marc Anthony (“Pa’llá Voy”), Bomba Estéreo (“Deja”), Jorge Drexler (“Ink and Time”), Elsa and Elmar (“We Are No Longer the Same »), Fonseca (“Traveler”) and Sebastián Yatra (“Dharma”) for the Latin gramophone in this section.

Another artist who shone tonight was precisely Bad Bunny, who, however, was not present at the ceremony.

The Puerto Rican artist won five statuettes by winning the categories best urban song (“Titi asked me”), best rap/hip-hop song (“De museo”), best urban fusion/interpretation (“Lo siento Bb :/” ), best urban performance (“Titi asked me”) and best urban music album (“A summer without you”).

For his part, Argentinean Fito Páez won 3 awards in the categories of best rock song (“The best of our lives”), best pop/rock album (“Los años salvajes”) and best pop/rock song (“Babel »).
