The games, prepared by professionals, will begin to be delivered to all departmental emergency committees (Cecoed), and they can be used in evacuation centers when it is required to entertain children or in playful activities related to comprehensive risk management. The aforementioned areas will also receive a guide to include children in the work to try to reduce the risk of disasters.
The presentation was made by the head of the National Emergency System (Sinae), Sergio Rico, and the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef, for its acronym in English) in Uruguay, Michel Guinand, this Thursday 17 in the Cecoed of Montevideo. The general director of Initial and Primary Education, Graciela Fabeyro, also participated.
Each kit contains three games defined by age groups: one for children up to 6 years old, another for those between 6 and 12, and the third, with materials aimed at working with adolescents. They will be delivered to all Cecoed and may be used in evacuation centers or in recreational activities related to comprehensive risk management organized in schools.
Fabeyro expressed in a press conference that the didactic materials are designed so that the educational centers work on the improvement conditions to avoid risk situations. Likewise, he recognized the work of the professional teams that participated in the elaboration of the kits, which he identified as opportune, because it prevents teachers from devoting time to find and select entertainment suitable for each age.
The content was planned by technicians with experience in the matter and validated by personnel from the institutions that lead childhood policies in Uruguay, establishes a press release from Sinae, which mentions the participation in the initiative of the Children’s Institute and the Adolescent of Uruguay (INAU), the Ministry of Social Development (Mides), through Uruguay Grows with You and the National Disability Program, as well as Cecoed and Unicef Uruguay.
The materials include a gender and diversity perspective, and specific inclusive materials for children and adolescents with disabilities.
In addition, a guide was prepared for the incorporation of children in the workplace to try to reduce the risk of disasters.
