Panama will receive 70,000 new doses of Pfizer vaccines against Covid-19

After announcing a sixth wave of Covid 19, this Friday, November 18, Health Minister Luis Francisco Sucre stated that 70,000 new doses of Pfizer vaccines against Covid-19 are awaiting the arrival, to reinforce vaccination, now that cases have gradually increased.

Minister Sucre stressed that four weeks ago positivity was reported at 3%, but until yesterday’s close it was at 11.5%, so we entered a sixth wave.

“The country has not stopped vaccinating, Convacunas remains permanently active, so we ask the population to come to get vaccinated to prevent contagion,” he said.

He added that the installed capacity at the national level in terms of beds for Covid-19, are 87 to 90% in the different hospitals, which is part of our contingency plan, he mentioned.

“The important thing is that people do not arrive at hospitals and that both children and the elderly attend to be vaccinated,” said Sucre, who reiterated the biosecurity measures, the mandatory use of masks on public transport is maintained and recommends that people use masks when they are in places of high agglomeration.
