Santiago.- A six-year-old boy died presenting symptoms of dengue in the municipality of Altamira, in the province of Puerto Plata.
The minor’s death occurred at the Dr. Joaquín Mendoza municipal hospital in Altamira, after he had been hospitalized for several days with a fever.
The death was confirmed by the provincial directorate of the Ministry of Health in Puerto Plata, an entity that arranged to open an investigation led by the doctor Lidia Pirón and the bioanalyst Gabriela González.
During the investigation, the relatives of the deceased were interviewed in order to collect all the information about the place and what happened to the minor when his fever began. The boy’s name was not provided.
The provincial director of Health in Puerto Plata, Jhonny Tavárez Capellán, called on the population to take preventive measures against dengue, since, in popular sectors, urbanizations and communities, disinfection and fumigation days are held every week.
