Some 500 participants in the Yo Estudio y Trabajo program were certified in transversal skills

Young members of the Yo Estudio y Trabajo program, of the National Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (Inefop), were recognized for having soft skills as a key tool for their insertion in the 21st century labor market. The national director of Employment, Daniel Pérez, explained that the certification guarantees the achievement of skills in goal orientation, teamwork and adaptation to change.

This Thursday, November 17, at the Nelly Goitiño Auditorium, Uruguay Certifica delivered vouchers to 500 young users of the Yo Estudio y Trabajo program. The event was attended by the national director of Employment, Daniel Pérez; on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC), Guillermo Dutra, and the director of the Knowledge Training and Accreditation Division, of the General Directorate of Professional Technical Education (DGETP-UTU), Jorge Musso.

On the occasion, the National Director of Labor, Daniel Pérez, pointed out the importance of young people acquiring transversal skills that enable them to participate in the labor market of the 21st century.

He also indicated that Uruguay Certifica is the inter-institutional commission that develops the public policy for certification and evaluation of competencies so that workers can receive recognition based on their trajectories. The scope is made up of Inefop, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS), the business chambers, the DGETP-UTU and the PIT-CNT.

Dutra, meanwhile, explained that the soft skills promoted by Inefop are related to the work culture that allows employees to live with artificial intelligence and accept changes.

He added that, on this occasion, the participants were trained in three skills: teamwork, communication and adaptation to change. In this sense, he indicated that the aforementioned entity promotes ten skills that are taught from the Templar program, which is carried out through the virtual platform.

He also stressed that Yo Estudio y Trabajo is a program that allows young people to be channeled into a promising projection in labor matters.

It was created in April 2012 at the initiative of the MTSS, the MEC, the Ministry of Social Development (Mides), the National Youth Institute (INJU), Inefop, the Institute for Children and Adolescents of Uruguay (INAU) and the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP), and contributes to strengthening the link between the world of education and the world of work to offer young students a first formal work experience.

It is part of Law No. 19,973, on Employment Promotion, of August 13, 2021, Chapter V, which regulates contracts for first work experience in the State and in non-State public persons.

The Inefop regulates the educational and labor orientation of the program, which is coordinated by the National Employment Directorate (Dinae) of the MTSS.
