The lack of water is a problem that has been affecting ranchers and farmers. Huancavelica Mail It reached the district of Acoria, near Inka ñan, where the farmer Benjamina Benito expressed her concern about the lack of rain, the same that does not arrive and harms her investment in the farms.

“We are concerned about the lack of rain, people are crying, women, men, the lack of rain is bringing high losses, the high Andean ranchers are being decapitalized, affected by mortality, due to abortions they will not have replacement, the Poverty will be greater in the agricultural and livestock part”, said the agronomist Timoteo Trucios.

He noted: “I remember that October 8 was a Saturday, snow fell, it rained and the residents sowed, they already lost everything they invested. Yesterday I spoke with farmers from Anta and Paucará, they tell me that the corn they sowed has already turned to dust on the ground, the beans have turned black, the potatoes they planted were burned by the frosts that fell, others still have not planted, there is uncertainty ”.

Benjamina tells us that she is afraid that the lack of rain will end up harming her, for this reason, she only asks the Lord to make the rain come to her, while looking at the sky and raising a prayer to the Most High.

Together with her 80-year-old father, she explains that if the rains don’t come soon, her entire root crop will be irretrievably lost.

Timoteo Trucios, an expert in the field, sees the sky and expresses his concern since yesterday it was cloudy all day, however, in the afternoon it cleared up and the sun began to shine, something that will continue into the night.

“I almost always wake up at 4 in the morning, when it is clear, from 5:30 to 6:00 it is cloudy, this seems to be a child phenomenon, we already experienced it in 2019,” explained the specialist.

The problem will worsen if the rainy season does not arrive until December, which will harm not only the farmer with a lack of crops, especially in cities where there will not be much crop production.

“The risk is that we are going to have very little production, except for some places where we are going to have a little irrigation, that have been planted, we are going to have very little production, there will be problems in the availability of food,” he said.

“The price is going to change, the law of supply and demand is going to be applied, there will be less availability,” he said.

This situation would have been avoided if the authorities had built reservoirs on time and places where irrigation has reached many places, however, it did not happen.
