Jesus Nunez, alias (el cañero), arrived in Havana, Cuba on October 31, and underwent surgery that same week. He underwent several biopsies and eleven other analyzes to determine the magnitude of the cancer that afflicts him and later study the feasibility of possible surgical interventions.
The cancer is being treated at the National Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology of Vedado in Havana, Cuba.
Núñez informed journalists from elCaribe, via phone call, that last Tuesday the stitches from the special analyzes were removed. He explained that other medical interventions are coming.
In that order, the union activist said that next Tuesday the National Union of Cuban Sugar Workers will receive on your behalf the results of the analyzes including the biopsies that were performed.

“According to the treating physicians, there are results that are very impressive and cannot be communicated to the patient, they take care of the mood and emotional state,” he pointed out.
The trade unionist said that in Cuba, the doctors who treat him are the heads and specialists of the areas in the Vedado hospital, oncologists and endocrinologists.
”There are a total of five specialists involved in following up, they are monitoring my disease. “Here in Cuba, they performed two biopsies on the same day, in Santo Domingo they performed a single biopsy in five months, here things are expedited,” Núñez said.
According to the doctors, the lymph nodes that affect Núñez in the neck are also scattered in the belly and left side of the side.
”I am facing a terrible illness but I am in good hands,” Núñez said.
Núñez told this medium that the treating doctors have informed him that as of Tuesday, the scheduled date to deliver the results. The patient must be permanently accompanied by a person, because according to them he will go to another line.
To the request, he replied: “There is a whole contingent of compañeros who are willing to come to accompany me in Cuba but I still haven’t decided who to select yet,” he said.

Núñez categorically rejected the intensified deportations that the Dominican government is implementing through the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) and described it as a hunt against Haitian migrants in the country.
He also reported that eleven Haitian migrants, members of his organization, were arbitrarily deported, according to the activist, the migrants had their regular documents.
