Chyno Miranda psychiatrist defends treatment of Tía Panchita

The entire treatment plan applied to Jesús “Chyno” Miranda at the Tía Panchita nursing home was agreed upon with his family and the urban singer himself. “The psychiatrists who attended Chyno Miranda did not act against the patient’s will,” said Francisco Paredes, the artist’s treating physician, exclusively for Últimas Noticias.

“It was his family that contacted me because in his house in Oripoto (between Baruta and El Hatillo) he could not comply with the rehabilitation treatment; That’s why we admitted him to Tía Panchita,” explained Paredes, who said he had known the singer since June 2021.

Miranda was admitted to the Tía Panchita Rehabilitation Center (Alta Florida, Caracas) in December 2021 until he was transferred to another facility during the early hours of last Wednesday, November 2, by order of the Civil Court 9 of Caracas, before which his girlfriend Astrid Falcón filed a legal action.

”Tía Panchita was the best environment for him, because it is a therapeutic community. It is like a family, a symbolic family structure, where there are older, middle and younger siblings. It has an affective family hierarchy,” indicated the attending physician.

The professional remembers that, upon entering the institution, the patient goes into quarantine, that is, a 40-day isolation. Parallel to this, the relative is given an induction for when contact with the patient is resumed, at the end of the quarantine.

Paredes is aware of the professionalism of the two psychiatrists who attended Chyno Miranda. As for the nurses, he explained that the records of his studies rest in Tía Panchita’s files.

Paredes worked for eight years as a forensic psychiatrist in the Public Ministry. The attorney general himself, Tarek William Saab, fired him last Wednesday, November 3, the day when they were taking Tía Panchita’s Chyno Miranda. Paredes did not agree “because his rehabilitation program conceived for two years was being interrupted.”

The artist’s attending physician was very struck by the fact that when they went to take Chyno out of Tía Panchita, in order to take him to another clinic, they did so in a vehicle not suitable for this type of transfer. ”They arrived in an Explorer truck, where there was pharmacological and mechanical containment material. That is customary with agitated, psychotic patients, because the only way to get them to a hospital is against their will. That was not this case,” he narrowed down.

To delve into his strangeness, he details that ‘if Chyno was in terrible condition there in Tía Panchita; If that was the case, why didn’t they bring an ambulance to take him away,” Paredes wonders.

The exit

The doctor suspects that after Tía Panchita, Chyno was taken for a check-up at the Forensic Medicine Unit of the Public Ministry, located on the corner of Ánimas, Urdaneta Avenue, Caracas. The action of the Prosecutor’s Office occurs because the day before they tried to take the singer and his cousin prevented it, according to what Paredes reported.

“When the judge arrived on Tuesday, November 1, they came pressing to be allowed to see the patient, so the nurses placed Chyno in an office and gave the judge space to speak with him,” Paredes narrated.

”The judge asked him his name and how he felt. He replied ‘fine’ and then he asked the judge if he wanted coffee. When he left to look for the judge’s coffee, his cousin arrived and she didn’t let him go out again. The cousin confronted the judge about the procedure and she drew up a record, ”paredes narrated.

“Then they showed up for the second time with the truck that I described where they took Chyno… On that occasion they let me in, a prosecutor tore off my Public Ministry credential and gave me my cell phone; The one who gave me a fart on the other side was the boss (Tarek William Saab). There he verbally dismissed me, because I did not agree that Chyno’s treatment should be interrupted. Last week they gave me retirement. They retired me to shut me up,” he assured.

According to the declarant’s account, after this mess, the prosecutor’s officials entered the singer’s room, woke him up and took him away around midnight. ”He had been saying for more than two months that he wanted to go to El Cedral because they told him that he could smoke there,” he said.

We asked the doctor about the role of Chyno Miranda’s girlfriend in this entire rehabilitation process. He clarified that Astrid Falcón is a codependent. ”In psychiatric and drug jargon, a codependent is a person who obtains an unconscious gain from the consumption of the person on whom she depends and, therefore, it is in her interest to continue using,” she explained.

Paredes recalled that, in this situation, he urged Astrid Falcón to carry out an induction, if she wanted to visit Chyno. ”She did the induction, I authorized the visit. And once she went to my office to tell me how happy she was for how well she had seen him and how much she had improved, “emphasizes Paredes.

The doctor returned to address the point of his four fellow prisoners and accused by the Public Ministry. He considers that they are innocent “because they are not fraudsters, they did not act against the will of the patient, but with the consent of the family.”

Last week, the Public Ministry charged the psychiatrists Vittorio Domínguez and Lionel Sotillo, as well as the nurses Danies Moreno and José Chacón, for the alleged commission of the crimes of continued fraud, unlawful deprivation of liberty and association, among others. The 40th Court of Control of Caracas accepted the prequalification charged by the Public Ministry, decreed deprivation of liberty and set the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Police in La Yaguara, Caracas as the place of detention.

Regarding Chyno Miranda’s situation, Paredes indicates that currently “he is suffering the consequences of having his pharmacological treatment and rehabilitation regimen interrupted.”
