Japan donates three electrosurgery equipment to Panama that will be used at the ION

Three electrosurgery teams, for an amount of B/. 92,299.00, were donated by the Embassy of Japan to the president of Fundacáncer, this equipment will go to the National Oncology Institute (ION).

The donation was made this Thursday, November 17, with the participation of the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, through the signing of a contract and delivery of the check.

This electrosurgical equipment is essential for performing surgeries and is used to cut tissue and control bleeding.

The Minister of Health indicated that the cooperation modality strengthens the transparency mechanisms since the donation of these equipments through the Pro-Sick with Cancer Foundation (Fundacáncer), strengthens the friendship and solidarity between both nations in the last 60 years.

“On behalf of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, the team from the Ministry of Health, the National Cancer Institute and all the Panamanian people, we thank the Embassy of Japan for this valuable donation,” said Sucre.

The Ambassador of Japan in Panama, Hideo Fukushima, delivered the donation to the president of the Fundación Pro-Enfermos con Cáncer (Fundacáncer), Juan Pablo Barés Weeden.

Fukushima stated that this donation is part of the non-reimbursable financial assistance for Community Human Security Projects carried out by the Embassy of Japan in Panama since 1995 and to date 232 projects have been developed for the benefit of Panamanians.
