A tanker truck loaded with eight thousand gallons of fuel spilled hundreds of gallons on Wednesday night on Avenida 27 de Febrero, near the Pueblo Nuevo sector in Santiago.
The Civil Defense reported that the event occurred at 6:00 pm on Wednesday when a tanker truck carrying gasoline from the Shell company, one of the tires fell into a hole, which caused a gasoline spill.
The chief of operations of the relief agency, Alex Torres, went to the scene to take the measures that, in coordination with the firefighters, evacuated the families that were near the fuel spill.
This operation ended after 10:00 p.m. without any major consequences.
The fuel was transferred to another truck and the tanker was removed from the hole in which he was at the time.
To achieve the rescue of the tanker truck, it became necessary to use a monorail construction crane.
After several hours of work, the truck was rescued, although there were difficulties in vehicular traffic.
