A 38-year-old man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the crimes of aggravated rape and aggravated robbery, to the detriment of a 27-year-old woman.
The Oral Trial Assistance Section of the West Panama Regional Prosecutor’s Office held the sentence reading hearing on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, where the Trial Court made up of judges Elka Rodríguez, Yudy Valderrama and Nilka Delgado issued the Judgment No. 293 of November 7, 2022, where this person is sentenced to 15 years for the crime of aggravated rape and 15 years for the crime of aggravated robbery.
The oral trial took place on October 26 and 27, 2022, where the man was found guilty, after the prosecutor Nayelli Gil on behalf of the Public Ministry presented the corresponding evidence before the Trial Court.
This sentence was given for an event recorded on June 7, 2018, at approximately 9:00 pm, when the victim boarded a “pirate” transport vehicle in Plaza Cinco de Mayo, heading towards the province of Panama Oeste, and at the height of the Bique sector in the Arraiján district, the co-driver of the car went into the back seat, threatened her with a firearm and sexually abused her, later in the El Limón sector in the La Chorrera district His belongings were stolen. For this case, the driver of the vehicle was sentenced by means of a penalty agreement.
